Hi All, Thank you for the privilege of allowing me in this wonderful group. I will of course do my best to contribute to the BP community via posts, videos and games, but wanted to do something special as well. My Gift: Over the years of drinking, partying and DJing I've acquired quite a bit of music (>500GB) from all over the world. To keep our knowledge and ability sharp (and for fun) we play a game called "Pick a Genre" --"Pick a Genre"-- Player one thinks of a Genre of Music (i.e. elctro-swing, hip-hop, phy-trance, whatever) Player Two has to provide a tune The rest hear the tune, and vote if it a)Fits the genre and b)is indeed a good tune (it always is ^^) This way we all gain access to fresh, generally unheard of, and definitely not main stream music So I offer you all!!! Pick a genre and I'll give you a song you'll love as a thank you for all your help over the months ^^ Thanks Brothers! Jint P.s. For ease I'll use youtube links. Not sure I can attach MP3's or send files but can do if needed

I'm actually just curious on the type of music you listen to since I'm a junkie myself. Always a pleasure to talk to someone about music.

Haha, all music is too vague. That pretty much means for you subjectively speaking every song that was ever written is actually a good song. Emphasis on subjectively.
Well I'm not good with genres (or dislike them) and I have no idea what Frenchcore (probably would not want to know) but I listen to a lot of pop, punk and rap. I learned to take music to heart since I was young and that had always been my approach when I listen to albums.
Okay, let's try and narrow it down, what are some of your favorite albums this year? Personally I'm enjoying the hell out of the new The 1975 record. A bit of Chvrches, Kanye West, Dessa, Daft Punk, James Blake, Drake new Justin Vernon album... yada yada. I think most of my anticipated albums this year have already been released but I am waiting for Danny Brown's Old. He's very very good.

I'm a metalhead, but also like blues, country, rockabilly and classical (to lesser extent than hard'n'heavy though).
Also, good idea for the thread, I'd say go for it.

Rock n' roll for me... And Tom Jones! Plus a small amount of pop topped with a whole lot of Rammstein, Metallica and Volbeat - while for dessert I'll have some of those 90's dance collections!

Stop with the genrer and get specific! That is not how people talk about music. That gets us nowhere.
For example, does anyone listen to the following:
The Gaslight Anthem Bon Iver Explosions in the Sky St Vincent

I think most of my anticipated albums this year have already been released but I am waiting for Danny Brown's Old. He's very very good. Indeed music is subjective. And whilst not every song ever written is good, in someone's eyes (most likely the artists) it'll be enjoyed. The trick is finding something that resonates with the majority of people who enjoy that style. i.e. would they spend £20 a ticket for a 5 hour event where this style is the underlying tone. The game helps broaden our music catalogue by allowing others to contribute songs they feel are similar to the original. Like referrals on spotify Punk: Yeah Yeah Yeahs: Black Toungue Electro-Punk: Yeah Yeah Yeahs: Heads will roll And everything Dead Kennedys! Holiday in Cambodia? No one album. Depend on my mood. James Blake, Kanye and Daft punk were all good. Do you normally listen to albums?
