Heyo! Haven't posted quite a few guides in the SE forums? I've read a few. What's your favourite Eddings and Salvatore book? I have to say I quite enjoyed Athalus (Eddings) and Initial Trilogies of Drizzt from start to IcewindDale (R.A.Sal) If you liked those two Authors, Raymond E. Fiest has quite a few excellent reads under him too. Tried e.fiest didn't quite like him. I like eddings's Belgariad saga (10 books + 2 books) and drizzt's first 9 books. I haven't read in a long time.... The last round, I finished the forgotten realms twins trilogy by margaret and Tracy. I foresee myself reading a lot more when I am retired. How about Wheel of Time, by Robert Jordan? R.A.Salvatore had another great character called the Highwayman. I'm not sure if wrote more on him beyond 2 trilogies though. By last round, you mean? Hmm.... haven't read much others from forgotten realms. It seems to be a hit and miss area.

Last round; meaning the last time I actually reserved time for reading, lol. That was around 3 years ago. games/work/gym/movies takes up most of my time now. Totally agree with the hit and miss nature of the forgotten realms novels: some of the authors are not very good and some of the good authors themselves have misses sometimes. And oh, the twins trilogy (Majere brothers) are from the dragon lance world not forgotten realms, lol.

BobbypimNawh. I don't mind. I'm a BookBeetle as well. Advanced stage of bookworms. Lightning FuryRead Brent Weeks, and Terry Goodkind. Not too sure about the others. May have read 1-2 without checking the authors name. Two recent female writers - Naomi Novik, and Trudi Canavan are pretty swell reads The Temeraire series by Naomi Novik is set in a Napolean Era, when the major European powers were warring, and colonizing the world. Dragons are brought into the mix. Living as wild ferals, battle assets, citizens of society, or even the dominating species in certain lands. As well as bringing an interesting mix into warfare with dragons having crewmen, carrying cavalry, men, cargo, etc. Certain breeds of dragons are of course more valued, on intelligence, maximum size, abilities such as flame/acid spitters, aerial maneuverability. Its not those junky 'add-a-dragon-to-make-fantasy-cool' kinda of novel. It wholly integrates dragons into societies, and looks into the major and minor impacts this would have on life as it were, in different lands.

Modern fantasy is all about world building. Now it's all about how elements in a society interact and influence one another, why something is like this and what happens to the society when you don't have that anymore. Authors have to get better each year to live up to the standards the readers have, and to make things not only interesting (not plain boring) but intellectually or morally challenging.
New writers like Brian McClellan, Miles Cameron, Naomi Novik and Django Wexler are pretty good too. Not GRR Martin good, but getting close. They are in my to read list. Trudi Canavan has been around longer, but not a favourite for me.

Raphael MajereHOLEY MOUSEDEER EXTREMENT. I completely did not think there would be any correlation between a random TCG I picked up and a novels I've been reading. haha. How did this come about? Lightning FuryTrue and true for those. I thought Trudi Canavan was a recent author? The Novice: Book2 of the Blackmagician Trilogy is my favourite novel from her. It has a pleasant balance of growth, challenge, morality, maturity, and love (not too much). What I found a little refreshing is that there are very few fantasy novels where the lead character is a strong female.

If an artist does not explicitly say it's a tribute piece, an unsuspecting buyer (such as the SE creator/developer) might buy it unknowingly and use it , but it's not against the law unless it looks too similar to already trademarked/registered official drizzt art.

Raphael MajereAh. I'm familiar with DeviantArt. Didn't know that SE was getting its art from them. Would make more sense than hiring long terms artists, with the slow speed update of new cards. Though I have to wonder at the art choice for the old Priest of Light.

Raphael MajereHaha. Sorry Raph. Try & block it out. Think of Crystal Titan. DirewulvenHello, Direwulven. I must say it is pleasant to have a fantasy reader fan section, haha. @all It has been nice meeting everyone, I hope we can continue the chat, as this is the public section. But I have to announce I've decided to leave probation in BP. Primarily, my reason for departing is the IRC is heavily inconvenient as the regulars & admins seem to be active at different timezones to myself. & the relative inactivity of the pupils forums, though I did appreciate the responses I did get.
