Keep in mind though, Arvoks main advantage is that he doesnt die, but you need a good bit of magicka if not focusing on Conjuration. Shadowmere isnt summonable, nor as fast but he is actually aggressive, and is tougher than any horse. Shadowmere can die, but hes super tough so if he dies its your fault.
Also...only you can kill a follower.

Do NOT do the quest Paarthurnax until Arngeir cannot hear whispers of a new Word. Completing the quest will have the Greybeards take away their support. [Spoilers] I say do not do the quest Paarthurnax, period. Why would you kill the coolest character in the game?  Also about the horse, there was a quest where you have to steal a horse named Frost for some guy and blackmail him to let you keep it. That's how I got mine, not having done the Dark Brotherhood quests yet. |

Frost actually has slightly better stats then a normal horse. Shadowmere and Arvok are VIP horses.

Hmm, I still find things are slow with horses. I was hoping I get to ride on a Dragon until I started killing them. :/ (Initially I thought being a DragonBorn means you get to keep them as pet or something, like in WoW)

Get Dragonborn then. Youll get a shout called Bend Will that allows you to ride a dragon and while doing so control its combat capabilities. You don't control its movement though.

Love Skyrim, but got bored with it after about 70-80 hours. Awesome game though, beautiful to look at. Just kinda feels ho hum, go here, kill this guy, sell some stuff etc after a while. Anyone here play Mass Effect series?

Fus Ro DAH! I got lost in Skyrim for two months. Literally two months, in real time. Nightingale ftw! But then I became a walking god and moved on to FF XIII  PS there is a secret spot southwest of Riften, an old Dragon Priest stronghold. Pretty cool location. |

I've played this and mass effect (1 and 2). I lost a lot of time in these games. Maybe that's why I ended up killing TWO Xbox 360s.........

haha nice Kraken. the whole Mass Effect series, especially 2 and 3 are just awesome, so well done and Tons of fun, lots of replay value, I'm on my way through them for the 3rd time. |

This is also why I flat out refuse to by another game system from Microsoft. Screwed twice with the red ring of death.....Not good. I never played mass effect 3. I beat number 2 and played a good way through the first. |

Ah, that's true, although I think I could play Mass Effect without the internet, I didn't have internet until last year and could still play it, took a little figuring out but I think it can be done. |
