I preach on church about once a month, so I do get opportunities to speak often. My job doesn't involve it thought.
Just discovered my "bed and breakfast guesthouse in a quite suburb" is a bedroom in someone's house in a neighborhood you could easily be caught dead in...
Had to drive a suburb over to find a mall with a restaurant for lunch. Not excited to drive back after dark...

What? They hold contest for this? That's so cool... how does it work? More players speak about the same topic and then judges judge jugs?

Yeh, 9 speakers, all get the same topic, so you are out the room till you get called. Didnt have a great night though. I tried to take the topic in a different direction to what I knew everyone else would do, and it didnt quite come off right. On well, now I can enjoy the rest for the conference and take notes for next time round

Topic: "luck is where preperation and opportunity meet. Do you agree or disagree?"
I knew everyone else would agree, so I disagreed. Opening went ok, but I ended up saying that luck really is fate, that if we were really lucky we wouldn't be there, but in Hollywood, because we would have been lucky enough to born with movie star hair or a rock star voice. I think it might have come across as: we all suck... Lmao.
A strong motivational style speech, even it was the same idea as everyone else's, would have been a better route. So at least I learned something in my first big competition.

I would say success is when preparation and opportunity meet. Because if there is much preparation, it can't be called luck anymore, can it? If result is to be expected, and with preparation you have those expectations.
