I have two young nephews who are into this TCG and to humour them, I may pick up the game too. Any good starting tips? Just buy the latest starter and box of boosters?

Wow, i just played the tutorial match on their facebook page... not bad. Well, there is no real strategy and it's really luck dependent with all the trigger cards, tiers, blocks, dmg... as long as u have the highest dmg for each tier in every cards. I might be wrong but that's my impression towards the game so far. On the other hand, I would says that the graphics are really nice, it's pretty easy to learn and plus it has its own cartoon like Yu-Gi-Oh (it's on youtube n animax btw). ^_^

If it plays like yugiyo or anything that just needs "power cards" to win, then, there's pretty much no thinking involved.

Card fight Vanguard is soo dope dude. It's a fast paced game like yugioh so I'm really getting into it. It is somewhat luck dependent but believe it or not it's less luck dependent than SE is, I also enjoy watching the Anime, unlike the yugioh anime they actually follow the real tournament rules as the real life game and it even goes further as to pointing out misplays and explaining why certain plays are better in certain situations, it's very interested watching them playtest just like real life card gamers and prepare for tournaments.
I need alot more cards but I'm diggin it tho.

I played 3DS version recently. Probably fun to play but too huge card collection. Rare cards always hard to get and combos/synergies need tons of them.......sigh.......

Picked up vanguard cause it was cheap in japan and now i'm into it playing competitively and have a bunch of decks. My tip would be, by a starter i guess since they don't sell the used card packs they sell here. the game is simple but it takes a while to get all the little rules and mechanics in your head so i recommend reading this: cardfight.wikia.com/wiki/Standard_Fight_RulesIt's a fun game gets better when played well, there's a lot of depth and strategy although it may not seem like it at first. also make sure you pick a clan u like from the beginning so u don't waste money building something you don't like. (they have different clans just like heroes in SE)

And yeah, the anime may be a little boring sometimes but it's a good way to learn how to play. I use to watch it to learn what to say while playing in japanese lol.

I have not even played or witnessed this game played and I've already splashed about $160 on a Kagero Amber Dragon deck plus 4x Dragonic Overlord and 4x Dragonic Overlord The End (this friggin card hurts bad). I do hope it won't be a wasted venture. I was thinking of Royal Paladins but the money invested will be higher and all i wanted was one good strong deck.
Is there a good clip (besides facebook) that shows how a Kagero deck should be played?

I have a O.TheEnd deck but is missing perfect shields so i take MajestyLord to tourney's. You try to get yourself 4 kimnaras and at least 4 salamanders cause the Kagero's strengths against most decks is killing the opponent's starting vanguard before they can use their ability. i also like running 3 Doverlords cause he is not very good imo hope u like the game, the more you play it the more youre gonna like it

Perfect Shields? I can't seem to locate them. Do you have a pic? I have 4x salamanders but not kimnara. Do you ride kimnara then?
I'm still very green at this game.
