What a horrible pun. Anyways today is Daylight Savings Time and here in the US we turn our clocks back 1 hour. Don't forget to do it.

I don't live or work in an area with dst. Just curious: Do people miss meetings/weddings/appointments frequently due to Dst?

Nope. It starts at 0200 (24 hour system) so if you arrive to work late its your own fault.

But you do gain/lose sleep twice a year outside normal circumstances.

DST is generally associated with sleep deprivation or getting that extra hour. Remember, we're supposed to be lazy. We don't make appointments on time anyways. Every so often, you'll hear about some idiot who didn't set their watch and ended up late for something, but that pretty much disappeared with the advent of the cell phone. Nowadays, most everything changes automatically, so there's really no excuse.

About the only thing I remember it affecting, when I lived somewhere that actually had it, was people getting to church, because it takes place on a Sunday.
An interesting piece of trivia regarding time is Cape Town, where I live, should actually be in an entire different time zone to the rest of South Africa, as it is 15 degrees west of Durban, where South Aftican Standard time is measured. In winter it stays light later (and obviously summer as well, when it gets dark really late here), and it summer it doesn't get light absurdly early. That's your useless factoid for the day.
Your welcome.
