Hi everyone,
Several of us were talking about chess and thought it would be a good idea to post a thread for other members to find people to play with online. Most of The BP folk who play chess use Chess With Friends. There's also Chess.com
Here's a starting list of usernames you'll find on Chess With Friends: Maximilian1230 Cerddorian *2Krispy* LightningFury Someone 3ls3
If you play or are interested in playing, please reply to this thread and let us know what your username is. Thanks, GLHF

My username on chess.com is Mid-Air. I am looking forward to playing anyone who can teach me a thing or few, which frankly speaking is probably most of you, since in rl my elo rating lies around 1300!

I play on lichess which is a pretty awesome free site for those that haven't heard of it...much better than FICS.
I gave up regulation chess years back but lichess has a number of interesting variants, the best of which is crazyhouse.
Crazyhouse is like bughouse without the partners. Normal chess rules apply with the additional feature that any captured piece can be placed on any open square on the board (with the exception of pawns which may not be dropped on the 1st or 8th ranks.
In practice this amounts to insane tactical combinations. There are no endgames since material can always be replenished and very few draws. There is some opening theory but it is barely developed. Hopefully, they will make a 960 crazyhouse which would be... in my humble opinion... the perfect chess variant for the computer age.
Tournaments run every hour rotating between 5/0, 3/0, and 1/0. That is mostly too fast for me and the tactics make my brain hurt...but in a good way.
Cheers gents!
