Im looking at buying some sort of physical cards to play with my 10 year old boy, he loves stuff like this. What do you think would be the best option? MTG or SE? Obviously I prefer SE digitally however I cant seem to find them in many shops which means the ability to make the game better might be hampered a bit. What do you think?

If u are looking for cheap and really casual play; go to eBay, old players/retailers sell mtg cards in bulk really dirt cheap. You can get tons of cards and make lots of interesting decks.
It applies if u are not looking to conform to mtg tourney formats, ie. Use and play any card.

Yup, u got the hang of things. It's very fun. Check out more eBay sellers too. Sometimes some great deals might suddenly appear. But the prices won't differ too Much - all good.

Endless buying. Cos once a new expansion hits, once a deck is determined to be good, the demand for certain rares/uncommons, the supply of those new cards is usually very low = extremely high prices.

Shadow Era Physical Cards (the CotC) on their website are going for 67% discount for a limited time. I ordered mine i.e. both the whole box and the booster packs. Thats about 660 cards in total (If my calculations are correct). IMO we build the decks with time. Let the kid start with this number and later you my add the DP or the SF decks. If you are interested then you can order them online. Below is the link www.shadowera.com/store/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=1

Yeah but, me being a fan of Magic I would suggest just getting bulk cards like ralph said. You'll be able to make some fun decks with your kids and you can get them booster packs for holidays so they can make their decks better. Also Magic is more popular so it will be easier for you to find people that play MTG.

Well I have ordered it now.. cant help it.. too late for warning If any thing wrong happens, you should pm kyle AND GDC at Se forums. They can do something about it. Don't leave it to ' Se support' cos they have a huge backlog of customer complaints/inquests to handle too.

I've had a good experience with SE physical cards. I bought 4 booster boxes (2 CotC and 2 DP) when they were all on sale, I found it worth it thanks to the SC code in each pack. For about $120 I ended up with 4x all the essential cards. I got at least one copy of each important rares and epics (like Grundler's Double, Portal, Scourge Colossus, Anklebreaker) . It's probably somewhat unethical but I made color copies of those, glued them to cards I had too many copies of, and once I put them in sleeves I couldn't tell the difference. Now I can make any DP deck I want!
So, I am satisfied with my purchase, but THE problem is finding people to play with. I have one friend who's into it and nobody's ever heard of SE at my local board game stores. If you are going to play with your kid, then by all means SE is a good idea.

Cheers mate. Yeah I dout know what way to go, I think magic may be the cheaper option because of the bundle thing mentioned above. But I like SE! Ha.

Lemme get me the cards first.. that I have ordered.. Then I ll go for copying. I also realised that I'll need dice, sleeves and and a storage folder/unit for the cards.
Any ideas/links when I can get them.

I got a box of tiny dice for $5 and paid about $15 for 300 sleeves at my local game store, and I'm sure you can get even better deals online.
