And, lo, there was a Frog. He did sing "Hello my baby"

Haldo, fair guild, my name is Matt, I'm 23, ign: WBfrog. You might have seen me randomly spectate your game and make a random, silly comment. I do that. I'm an astronomer who specializes in public outreach and education.
I had a pleasant duel with a fine gentleman with the ign Konkel Berry who sent me this way (he also told me to say that he is still having internet problems). I've been interested in guilds for this game. In past gaming worlds, be it Smash Bros, or Elder Scrolls Online, I enjoyed leading and participating in guild life.
I first got into CCGs back in 2nd grade when I was introduced to Pokemon cards. My real obsession didn't take off until I was introduced to Magic The Gathering in late high school. I played casually with a very large group of friends. I spent way too many hours searching through card databases and deck simulators theorycrafting. Eventually it got to the point where it was consuming too much of my life and I decided I would try my original deck in a Tournament and see how I did, then hang up my boots. I competed in both a Wednesday night magic and Friday night magic at the local card shop in Tucson, Az. I went undefeated in both. I then sold the deck and gave away my collection to friends. I played some Hearth Stone and enjoyed it very much, but my laptop is broken, and the iphone version isn't out yet. SE is on the iphone, and I'm enjoying it more than either of those games in that the diversity of viable decks is incredible.
About a month ago, I found Shadow Era and the bug has bit me again. Though I want to be less obsessive with it so it won't damage my day to day life, so far, I'm not doing a very good job of that haha!
As a CCG player, I love making new decks and modifying old ones. I would describe myself as competitive in everything I do and I am interested in tournament play. That said, I try not to take things so seriously that I rage or trash talk in game ("it's just a card game", I try to remind myself).
I think my most defining characteristic is my irrational unwillingness to play anything standard or meta, I just like to be original and different, I guess.
I'm currently floating in the 250-270 ranking range.
I forget if I need to talk about anything else... *goes to check guidelines* will edit later if necessary.
