Hello fellow BP members! As you can see the latest and greatest conversational device thing... is the Telegram group, and since the IRC is slowing down maybe its time to push forward with the times? Any questions about Telegram are most likely in the FAQ telegram.org/faq#q-how-is-telegram-different-from-whatsapp. The thing about Telegram that people boast so much is the secure messaging service that saves all the messages from when you leave and enter (unlike other programs) and since the app is free for everyone and entirely simply to use this could be a very good opportunity for BP to make an accessible room for everyone to enjoy! There is also a background setting! Yay!

Irc is only dead because people think it is and don't bother coming on. But if people realise that it's not actually dead, and come on, they would find that quite a few of us are active still. Telegram won't solve anything, activity on a whole has slowed down due to people getting bored with SE etc. All telegram does is add another chat platform that will be underused

Actually the IRC has been slow for years... and that's no secret since we all tend to tease the IRC for being a low quality chat room that we came to endear since we've been on it for so long. While the IRC might still have some active members it pales so the fact that only so little of them actually chat back, Telegram expands upon the chat system with a clean interface, remembering messages, heavy encryption and large rooms that can handle lots of traffic. Unlike WA you don't even need to post your number or log in every time like IRC! As of right now Telegram has opened a public SE chat that is more than just the game chat but a small social outlet, a safe house chat where one can talk freely about their religious and metaphysical ideals without judgement and even a tournament chat. While IRC will always be thet old AOL type chatroom we know and love the innovation of Telegram is being brought into SE.

There are irc clients that can do everything that telegram offers. Just saying it's not necessary. It's just causing a split between those who want to use it, and those that don't, and that's not doing the SE community any good, and I don't think it will be of much worth to the blue Phoenix community either. As I said, activity has dropped on a whole, adding a new chat won't fix that.
Some people are hosting 'telegram only' tournaments now, and frankly, I don't see how that is of a any benefit. It's just something that started as 'let's do this and make an impression on the community' without really thinking of the backlash that it would entail.

More than a hundred isn't a lot when the community is thousands. ^that means nothing.

I'd say we have a much bigger problem than choosing a chat platform. I'm more worried about our home, BP Forum that feels like abandoned this days. I see only few, same people posting and visiting it. I cannot blame anyone... As we all know, SE's pace of development is equal to snail's one, so we have to make something out that will gather our people once again, then we can go on any chat client we want. For that I need your help and the help from anyone that is willing to fill our home again. We have to gather our troops once more and start expanding our Realm from our own courtyard.
As for the Telegram, everyone has a right to choose, we wont stop people join it, nor we demand from you to join IRC. Our primary home, however, was always our Guild's Forum and has to stay that way, that shouldn't be forgotten.

Oh no all our CoC activity is in WA since we don't have a way to separate CoC "warriors" to the SE ones.

Tbh we would need to get into more games of different genres, not talking about Hex or anything but something new and fresh preferably with an ingame guild system

The first one would to have seperate areas of the forums to be "opened" since the CoC group we got is a bit picky that pupils will be able to see everytbing we post, on another hand CoC isn't very forum worthy since we have WhatsApp anyway.
Maybe we could open a forum too see what platforms our members have for games and try to find out group games from there.

I agree with lucas if we want this guild to strive we need to invest in a actual telegram. Still use Irc though, I have a feeling that the next WC will be hosted on telegram because of popular demand

i will be the last one to use telegram over wa. i just am so used to wa..maybe we use 2 easy chat platforms and operate through them? seems like alot of work tbh. For coc i have had like 3 ppl come to our forum to give a number for the group on wa. for most its not an issue if its not displayed for whole world to see
