Necro Saturday. Well I might have a gaming compulsion to confess. Back when I first started playing massive games like Sid Meiers Civilisation 4 and Age of Empires III, that was when my all night up gaming streaks appeared. I still remember trying to finish a game before logging off, even if that game would take me 4-5 hours to finish. Then I started my O levels, got a PS2, and cut down my gaming hours to daylight. That left me time again for reading and other stuff like going out sometimes and jogging. I found that if I balanced my time with studies and go off on short bursts every day on the ps2, that would really take a load off. Then my family moved to Saudia and I had nothing to do except stay indoors and either use my ps2 or my laptop. I still played Civilisation now and then, sometimes 5-6 hours again straight. I naturally grow worse during the summers, sitting all day in front of a screen. Games were a big part of it, but movies and series were too. Before then I had never used my tablet for anything other than reading or browsing. Shadow Era and Hellfire along with a couple of more games were huge changes to my routine. It got to a point that I wouldnt move from my spot for hours, alternating between my desk, bed and reading chair. My Ps3 alone with Battlefield, Skyrim, FF XII, and loads of literally huge games took my gaming nights to another level. Then college started and little by little I was forced to re adjust, though at the first it was very hard. I skipped a few classes and went home early because I was too tired. I havent played on my Ps3 for a while, and I uninstalled loads of games on my tablet and laptop. Trying to get back into reading more and running to get my stamina back up. I'm literally a mess at sports lol. Hopefully something good will come out of it in the end

My mantra is to stick to only 1 game. Otherwise I will be swarmed. Exactly what i do, thats why i rejected to join solforge and the other games that had threads in this and main forum. SE is and will be my only online game for a while.

Stick to 1 competitive game.
For example, I'm holding off Pokemon because of SE. But at the same time I can play games with an actual ending, like the new Zelda (A Link Between Worlds), just finished Super Mario Land the other day. I treat those games as reading a book, or finishing a project. Non zero-sum games. SE is a zero-sum game.
Video games are supposed to help you lessen stress, not an escape to not do things you should be doing like trying to get a good life. I did that a lot in the past. As soon as I hit something I feel like could be stressful I just try to find a game and finish that instead. Not healthy.
Conclusion: I don't think it's healthy for someone who loves videogames to quit videogames just because he's playing too much. Just find the root of your anxieties and deal with that first. Louie CK has a great segment about people afraid of being alone (although in that article he uses cellphones).
PS I didn't read the entire thread lolololol

I started young to play RPGs but not online, I played in my youth to Baldurs gate with all its expansions, neverwinter night , vampire bloodlines masquarade and all the final fantasy , and old games abandonware (I love and there are very good abandonware sites where rescue and I can play on my mac )
devoted to these games for hours , days and days , weeks, etc. both also went out with my friends party and my girlfriend , so I had no time to study and was badly in high school.
then started to play wow and it was too , and neither went out to the street lol so last year I decided to leave the wow and play occasionally as classic RPG , it is the only genre that I like, the role , so I like having shadow was tinged fantasy.
respect to vice xd shadow was not required as long as other online games out there that you can not wait or go through a raid , and has a very good community with warriors bp
so aside from my old jewelry occasionally for nostalgia game, just play shadow era, now I resumed my studies , I go out with my friends and I have my girlfriend happy : D
