Ok, so I can't believe it when I posted earlier. The hasn't been many western shows that have been very good except a VERY long time ago. With that being said Longmire is simple a great show. The new seasons start tonight.

BTW if you guys want a British sitcom catered to an older audience, I highly suggest giving Coupling a chance. It has some of the wackiest concept episodes in a sitcom but I also think it's one of the funniest. There's literally one episode where a guy tries to pick up a girl in a bar but the girl doesn't know English. The first half of the ep is spent on the guy's side of the story (so you only understand his talking), and the second half is the same scene but in the girl's native language (so you only understand her talking). The hilarious reveals at the second half is what makes it a great episode.

Ok, another show that's funny, but good at the same time is duck dynasty. For those that haven't seen or heard about it, think redneck millionaires running a business. Also, the beards are pretty epic also.

THERE'S A THREAD FOR THIS?! AWESOME!!
here's a list of TV shows that I have watched/still watch. I have almost 2TB worth of downloaded TV shows on my hard drive. This is my collection. I used to have more than this before my old harddrive broke and I had to re-download everyhing that I can remember.
I am very proud to say that I have a complete collection of (mostly) awesome shows although some of my collection i download and watch just because or some expected nude scenes from certain actresses lol (i'm looking at you , True Detective's Alex Double D!). But some shows like True Detective turn out to be very interesting to watch and kept me watching them until the end.
I prefer TV shows to Movies because a character can be built with more details in a TV show. And that's how I actually get attached to a character. Movies are mostly

Battlestar Galactica has been on my to watch list for quite some time but. but then I had too much to catch up on so i just forgot about downloading it. plus there were just plain awesome new TV shows like Breaking Bad, Game of Thrones, Cosmos that I mostly focus on them now. this makes me a bit less inclined to try and watch old TV shows.

I like you.
Yes, add Serenity to your watch list as well. And then the spiritual sequel to Freaks and Geeks (one of my favorite show of all time!!! Franco +Rogen ftw), Undeclared. Luther, Rick and Morty (by Dan Harmon, writer of Community, R&Mmy top pick for this year so far),
Also you missed one of the most important shows ever: Doctor Who!
Nice list. You certainly know your TV. Personally I enjoy film and series equally, because yeah you can have more leniency in character dev in TV, but in a film, you have to make every second count, and that's also an amazing challenge. Also one of the best character dev in the entire film and tv culture, imo, is a little set of films called Before Trilogy.
Love that TV thread is booming. Great tastes from everyone. Now I'm excited when September hits. Make sure to keep each other updated with best new shows!

Serenity --> got that already Undeclared --> heard of it, will give it a try when i get the chance Luther --> is this really good? I've had too much crime drama tbh. i'd only watch another if it's really THAT good. Rick and Morty --> Will definitely give a try. I need some cartoons to fill in the hole futuram left. Doctor Who --> I was actually interested at some point with this. But when I watch a show, I personally have to see it from the very beginning. and Doctor Who has an overwhelming list of episodes! so i just decided to let it go. yeah, i agree with you. and i'm not saying that i dont like feature films, cos i do enjoy many of them. it's just that there are soooo many movies out there, yet so few that make me really want to have to watch them. but still, there are movies that i consider great.

bicinOne of the things I loved yet hated at the same time about Dr Who is the constant change going on in the series. You don't have to watch the very first episodes since it was released to keep up with the show. Just find the last episodes before the change in the actors playing the Doctor and his companions and you should be fine. Also, another great sci-fi show in my opinion that you should check out would be stargate. I absolutely loved that series and was very unhappy when it was canceled by syfy (very long rant if you ever ask about).

Ok, here is three more shows.
Jag NCIS NCIS: LA
Jag was a great show that spun off NCIS and then NCIS LA was spun off from NCIS. All are really good series with each offering a little something different from each other.
Also, here's something cool from Longmire.....
The cowboy has always been a dying breed, but he takes his dying slowly, perched upon his steed. The prairie is his prison, his church, his wife, if you take away his sky you take away his life. Yet where does he go when the ranges all have closed, does he retire to his bunkhouses, in depressed repose. No, he climbs back in that saddle, if just to bide his time, for the cowboy knows, a good death is hard to find.
